West Tennessee Rehabilitation Center Employee Named Social Worker of the Year


Laura Mills was recently recognized as the 2006 Social Worker of the Year by the Northwest Area Council for Healthcare Social Workers. This award recognizes social workers whose dedication and concern are helping build a better world through a caring attitude.

A native of Henderson, Tennessee, Mills earned a Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1989 and has worked in various healthcare settings including home health, skilled nursing, acute hospital and inpatient rehabilitation. She is currently employed with West Tennessee Rehabilitation Center, an affiliate of West Tennessee Healthcare, as the Brain Injury Services Coordinator for rural West Tennessee. Mills is certified by the American Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists (AACBIS), and through her job provides advocacy, education and referral services for people with brain injury and their families.
