UT Medical Group Welcomes Specialists In Surgery, Ophthalmology
UT Medical Group, Inc. recently appointed the following physicians to its medical staff:
Dr. Alexander Mathew joined the department of surgery as a specialist in colorectal surgery with an interest in endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures such as transanal endoscopic microsurgery for early rectal lesions.
He was graduated from the University of Alabama College of Medicine and completed his internship and surgical residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Mathew completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. and earned certification by the American Board of Surgery.
Neuro-ophthalmologist Dr. Thomas J. O'Donnell joined the department of ophthalmology as a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of optic nerve disease and disorders of the brain affecting the visual system.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine, O'Donnell completed his internship at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia and his ophthalmology residency at UT in Memphis. He completed fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Michael J. Rohrer joined the department of surgery as a specialist in endovascular and vascular surgery with expertise in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, thoracic aortic disease, angiography, and intervention for peripheral vascular occlusive disease.
He completed medical school and general surgery residency at the Northwestern University Medical School. Rohrer completed fellowship training in vascular surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School as well as additional training in endovascular surgery at Southern Illinois University.
He is certified by the American Board of Surgery with additional qualifications in Vascular Surgery and is the author and co-author of more than 120 grants, studies, and publications.
