Health Care Ratings Group Gives Baptist Heart Institute High Marks for Care
The Baptist Heart Institute at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis today announced it has Memphis' top-rated heart program, and its heart surgery services rank in the top 5 percent in the nation, according to HealthGrades, one of the country's leading health care ratings organizations.

In HealthGrades' 2006 ratings, the Baptist Heart Institute, located within Baptist Memphis, also earned five stars — the highest score — for open-heart surgery and heart attack treatment. HealthGrades also ranked the facility's heart surgery program second in Tennessee.

The Baptist Heart Institute is designed to deliver comprehensive services to its patients in the most convenient way possible. It combines all heart services in one facility to support high-quality care, research, education and data management. A surgery addition, cardiac catheterization labs, a pre- and post-cardiac patient staging area, cardiopulmonary transplant unit, cardiovascular recovery/cardiovascular intensive care unit, two cardiac medicine units and a cardiac intervention unit make up the Baptist Heart Institute. The facility also includes a waiting area for patients' families. Baptist is the only health care system in the Mid-South that offers the full spectrum of heart care, from noninvasive cardiology to adult heart transplantation. The Baptist Heart Institute also houses the Ford-Goltman Clinical Research Center, an inpatient facility that allows researchers to conduct several types of clinical research trials.
