Dear Readers,

Memphis Medical News is proud to join the collaborative effort of the Aligning Forces for Quality initiative, led by the Healthy Memphis Common Table. Look to us for regular updates on the progress being made. This month, we bring you the first report in our “Memphis on the Mend” column.

It’s not every day that you meet a real “life-like” robot, but I met a tall, green one at a party recently. I learned this special robot is particularly charming and helpful with children who have developmental disabilities. That was it; I fell in love. You will, too, when you read about “SeeMore,” Memphis Eye & Cataract Associates’ new robot, in our Tech Connect column.

As you know, DeSoto County in Mississippi is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States and has a rapidly growing medical community with strong Memphis connections. Baptist DeSoto Hospital marks its twentieth year in DeSoto County this year. Numerous other Memphis clinics have opted to open satellite offices there during the past several years. Because of this, Memphis Medical News recently added all North Mississippi zip codes to our mailing list, and we will begin featuring North Mississippi news in our Grand Rounds section. If you are a physician’s office located in North Mississippi, please send me your news for this section. Likewise, if you are a medical office in Memphis with a new North Mississippi office opening, please let me know about that as well. And, as always, we’re looking for medical news in Memphis, so keep me updated!
