Emergency Mobile Health Care, LLC

Caring for and Sharing with the Community

Emergency Mobile Health Care, LLC (EMHC) is a Memphis owned, privately operated ambulance company. From its inception, the concept of EMHC has been to provide skilled, highly advanced treatment within the context of compassionate, patient-centered care. As a leader in medical transportation, we provide a critical link in today’s multi-faceted healthcare system.

At the heart of EMHC is a service-centered ethos, which drives the dedication of the employees and distinguishes our company in the field of medical transportation. In an effort to benefit the whole person, it is our intention that physical care be provided in the context of a nurturing spirit, supporting emotional well-being. It allows for the exercise of care and compassion on the personal level as well as in the community.

Transportation services offered include:  emergency and non-emergency ambulance transportation, psychiatric ambulance care, dialysis ambulance care, hospice care and critical care.  In addition, our fleet includes specially equipped pediatric and bariatric units to best serve the unique needs of those patients. Our calls range from emergency room visits, outpatient testing and doctors’ appointments to hospital discharges.

EMHC is proud to partner with several hospital systems in their stroke and STEMI collaboratives.  We are also the trusted ambulance service for the FedEx Forum, Auto Zone Park, RiverKings Hockey, the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend and the University of Memphis Tigers.

Compassionate Care

We strive to set ourselves apart in the quality of service we provide to those we serve in the patient-care continuum.   Our high level of service is a goal achieved through both outstanding personnel and advanced technology.

EMHC employs paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to carry out all aspects of patient care. Our Medical Director, Dr. Jack P. Bandura, is a cardiologist and emergency room physician in the Memphis area.

In the pursuit of excellence for patients and facilities alike, EMHC strives to attain leading technology.  EMHC uses electronic medical records to maintain the most current patient records possible as well as to insure the highest level of security for patient data.

Our in-house dispatch center is equipped with the ability to view complete fleet location and status in real time, allowing us to operate more efficiently. Also, EMHC vehicles feature a navigation system, which provides directions and response information, further increasing the efficiency of fleet crew and dispatcher interaction.

Global Vision

Recognizing the industry to be a heavy consumer of fossil fuels, it has been an important step in our company’s development to reduce our part in that consumption.  EMHC changed its entire fleet to the Sprinter vehicle, thereby increasing our fuel economy on each unit from 8 mpg to 20 mpg. We were also able to increase the span between oil changes from 3 to 10 months. In 2011 EMHC relocated its facilities, and during that process, we installed energy-efficient lighting and electrical features to make our facility greener.

Charitable Spirit

Michael and Bette Arndt, two of the founders and current owners of EMHC, share a dedication to the Memphis community. This dedication inspires a culture of giving at EMHC and a desire to give back to the community. We give both financially and in-kind so that our business may not solely foster our success but may also impact our community-at-large, creating a greater good for all. In addition to event services, we also provide medical coverage to many local charities at fundraisers.

Disaster response has come in two forms of service for EMHC: readiness within the community and response to crises beyond. In the Mid-South, EMHC provides emergency back-up operations to Memphis Medcom, the area medical communications center. EMHC supplies the necessary communications and staffing for emergency communications should the need arise.

EMHC willingly stepped in and responded to serve areas beyond our region as called upon by communities in need when two natural disasters struck -  Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav.
